Let me be as clear as I can be: the iOS multitasking bar does not contain “a list of all running apps”. It contains “a list of recently used apps”. The user never has to manage background tasks on iOS.
One thing to note, however, is that removing apps from the multitasking bar is a very good way to close an app experiencing problems. I have to do this with the Netflix app all the time. The app frequently freezes on a particular view. Unless I remove the app from the multitasking bar, the next time I access the app, it will attempt to return to that same view.
I discovered a cool open source project by the guys from the icon factory called Chameleon. Essentially, it’s a replacement for UIKit that allows iOS projects to run on the desktop. According to the site, the project is about 60% complete. It seems like a great idea, and I’m looking forward to the completed version!
I finally got around to publishing my newest iPhone app on Friday. The app is called D2L Quick Reference App and is made for educators using the Desire2Learn LMS. The app features a list of topics that load individual lesson views, a preference screen for entering support contact information, and a “shake for help” feature that lets instructors easy email or phone support.

Status update on my next iPhone app. I hope to have it submitted for review by the end of the week!
