Photoshop: Introduction

Learn the basic tools and operations of Photoshop, a powerful image editing program used by professional designers and photographers. In this introductory workshop, even average users can learn the fundamental techniques involved in improving family snapshots, creating web images, or even creating complex works of art. This workshop focuses on producing images for computer screens rather than for print.

Photoshop: Masks

This workshop examines the use of Photoshop masks to manipulate images. Among other benefits, masking allows users to alter an image without changing the original. Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to create a layer mask, hide and reveal portions of the mask, and use the masks to blend layers of several photos.

Flash: Introduction

Flash is the industry standard application for creating animations and interactivity for websites, CD presentations, educational endeavors, game design, and more. This workshop provides an overview of Flash, explains the software interface, and provides a basic understanding of how to work in Flash.

Flash: Motion Tweening

Using keyframes, motion tweens, and motion paths, Flash users can create complex animations quickly and easily. This workshop covers some of the basic animation techniques used to create Flash movies for websites and CD presentations.

Flash: Navigation

Flash action tools are extraordinarily flexible and can be used to make powerful navigation structures. Whether creating presentations from an existing PowerPoint file or building a presentation from scratch, Flash’s powerful scripting tools make it easy to create dynamic, non-linear navigation structures. This workshop builds on the material covered in the first two worshops.

Creating PDF Documents

Learn to create PDF documents using Adobe Acrobat, a utility program that creates files (.pdf Portable Document Format) that are cross-platform and cross-media. This format was originally designed to assist publishers (including newspaper publishers) by keeping file sizes small while retaining the full layout and look of the document, including graphics, fonts, and links. The files can be optimized for print or for screen delivery.

Adobe Fireworks

Much like Photoshop, Fireworks is a graphics editing program that allows users to open, edit, and save digital images. Fireworks enables users to create animated GIF images, rollovers, hotspots, vector based graphics, and more. This program simplifies the process of creating graphics for use on the web and eliminates the need to use several image editing programs.

Macrmedia Freehand

Macromedia Freehand can be used to create impressive print, flash, or web documents. It offers layers, extensive design tools, and vector graphics tools that allow users to create high-impact documents. This workshop is an introduction to designing print-ready documents in the program.
